It’s been a long while since I’ve written here on Substack,(in part because of life, (my father passed away last year, I chair my department, and I have issues with nazi’s on the platform) but something happened on St Patricks day that made me want to write, despite all the awful things going on in the world.
“I want the guy who is touched by prayer, not monetizing it.” That’s my new mantra. And it’s going on a coffee mug. God continue to bless you … and the President.
Ok now, this made me cry. I’m sitting here in B&N coffee shop trying not to do the ugly cry. Now, I know why I have not seen you writing here as much, cause I’ve been looking. I grew up in COGIC and bought your book Women of the COGIC…and the one on White evangelicals. I am no longer in the religion of my childhood — my heart aches at what’s going on, that so many people cannot see what’s going on with this toxic mix of religion (evangelicals) and politics.i am sorry for your loss, your Dad.❤️🙏🏽❤️🌸God bless you and your work, you and Robert p jones, Kristen du mez & others. Keep going…please, keep going. All people of all faiths, high moral call, and decency must stand up for the highest love ethic possible and lift humanity up to the highest dimension we can.❤️🌸🙏🏽
I have to admit, haven't seen that look on your face too often, if ever. 😂😂😂. I learn all the time, it only takes a moment to gain a different view of people we're sure of but don't always agree with and people who we don't agree with but can appreciate where they come from. It important to me to always be open to an "Ah-haa" or epiphanies on the road of life. I'm glad we can still be surprised and challenged to see and hear people anew. Thrilled for your Mom. There's nothing like a praying mother. Looking forward to reading your writings. 🙏🏿🕊️
Dr. Butler, Thank you for sharing your experience at the White House. I enjoyed seeing your photos on Twitter and was even more thrilled to read this post. Hearing first hand about Pres. Biden’s humanity is the good news I needed to read today.

How wonderful to have a president that personally calls to thank the lady who prays for him every day!! This warms my heart!
Love this.
I will vote for decency every time.
