Have you ever been convicted of a Felony? YES.
Trump's 34 Felonies won't deter his most slavish religious followers
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? YES.
I’ve had the Ice Cube song “What can I do” playing non-stop in my head since the conviction of Donald Trump on 34 counts in his hush money trial. I suppose I’m not the only one since this image of Trump is circulating on X since the verdict
:
Sigh. I suppose like the gold sneakers and Blacks for Trump, this will be another way to try and pander to the ideal black voter that exists in Republican fantasies-low information, and easily swayed by fake wealth. But hey, now their hero exemplifies all their racial fears. Trump is a convicted felon.
It’s funny and breathtaking to watch the meltdown of Trump supporters and MAGA faithful. As Joy Reid so aply put it, it’s amazing to watch even black politicians like Tim Scott abase themselves in order to keep their hopes of being VP candidate for a convicted felon alive.
The real losers with a capital L besides Trump and his legal team are evangelicals, Trad Catholics, and other people of faith who continue to follow slavishly after this husk of a human. Having the King of the evangelicals get his 34 felony counts not for stealing government documents or January 6, but for a hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels has to be galling. What about all those evangelical campaigns about the evils of porn? SMDH.
Make no mistake- Evangelicals are going to stick by him, and even love him more. Why? Because their morality is conditioned on two things- whiteness and access to power. Neither of which have anything to do with Jesus.
After all, I said in my book “White Evangelical Racism: The Politics of Morality in America” That their focus on morality was about gaining political power. No matter how broken of a political candidate Trump may be, he’s all the republicans and evangelicals have right now. They have sold their souls to him, and so have his followers, religious and non-religious alike.
What an end to the Grand Old Party and their hapless followers.
How did you like the mix that was on the lethal injection album?
